I was worried over the last few months because there was a lot of talk of 2K not renewing its license to make MLB games which would make the only baseball game Sony’s The Show. Therefore 360 gamers would be entirely shut out of the 2013 baseball season which would be quite tragic. Luckily 2k revealed MLB 2k13 yesterday with a March 5th release date.
Why are we excited about this though? 2K hasn’t made a decent baseball game in ages. I still say 2K and EA need to switch their licensing around.
I actually think 2k12 was one of the best baseball games I’ve ever played. I absolutely love the presentation, it hits baseball dead on. The gameplay has improved a lot from 11 (especially pitching), I can only imagine how awesome 13 will be. Furthermore a good friend of mine is a diehard fan of The Show and he even said he’d rather have the presentation and feel of 2k12 over The Show. We’re both pretty big baseball fans more so than video game fans, so maybe that plays into it?
12 was a fantastic step up, but at the point it released, no one cared anymore. I always felt that the all around game play was better for 2K, but The Show won me over. I hate admitting it, but even with the strides in gameplay, they still haven’t been doing it for me.
Either way, I’ll play both again this year. I would much rather give 2K my money.
