Bogus Basin: Jan. 2, 2015

We headed up to Bogus Basin for the first time of the season on Friday for some night skiing. The sunset was beautiful, the snow was awesome and we had a great time!

I love the view from atop the Showcase chair, especially at nightfall. Showcase is my favorite run, and that’s pretty much all we skied Friday night. I brought up my GoPro and took some fun videos as well. Nothing fancy, just enjoying the snow and the mountain. Enjoy!

Snow from coast to coast

Friday marked the first decent snow here in the Boise area this winter, and it was well needed. The snowfall finally allowed Bogus Basin to partially open for the season. We’ll probably head up there once or twice over my Christmas break, so hopefully it gets a few more inches by then. Right now it has a base depth of 17″.

Over on the East Coast it’s snowing pretty heavily in Baltimore making for an interesting game between the Ravens and Vikings. Right now Baltimore leads 7-0 after a fumble recovery (that arguably should’ve been overturned, but we’ll take it) and some fancy footwork from Joe Flacco that allowed for a touchdown pass to Ed Dickson.

Skiing Bogus Basin

Went skiing again this past Sunday at Bogus Basin (Boise, Idaho). It was a pretty awesome time even though there was less snow this week compared to last (33″ this week..there were a few brown / grassy spots but overall it wasn’t too bad). I thought I’d share this video I threw together with iMovie from our trip. It’s shot with an iPhone 4 so it’s not the best video in the world. I’m not sure if YouTube will allow the music to remain in the video. I hope so, it’s not as interesting to watch without the music (not that it’s incredibly thrilling in the first place).

I hope to post more soon, it’s been a busy week at work so I spent the weekend relaxing (and skiing of course). I’ve played a little bit of Devil May Cry 4, DmC: Devil May Cry, Dead Space and WWE 13 this week so there’s definitely a good bit to talk about when I have the time.

Skiing at Bogus Basin (Idaho)

It’s been a busy two weeks but hopefully I’ll get back into the swing of things soon. In the meantime I thought I’d share a few pictures from the ski trip my girlfriend and I took on Sunday to Bogus Basin, just outside of Boise. It was my first ski trip of the season and it was a nice refresher trip.

We went night skiing (4-10) which is quite affordable at Bogus. It’s $22 for a night lift ticket, however the gas station Jackson’s offers a $10 off voucher if you buy three 20 oz Pepsi products. They also offer a 50% military discount on lift tickets and ski rentals, so I skied for $21 (I don’t have my own skis yet) and my girlfriend skied for $12.

We kept it pretty easy for our first trip and skied ‘coaches corner’ to warm up, and then went down ‘Showcase’ (which was pretty rough since there were quite a few grassy patches that resulted in a few falls). We then went down the ‘Sunshine cat track /Sunshine’ trail a few times which was ultimately the most fun trail to ski that night.
