Happy Thanksgiving from A Video Game Life!

Good morning and happy Thanksgiving! I hope you’re able to enjoy the holiday, food, friends and family throughout the day.

I’m heading to the gym to start my day off with a run and then I’ll probably do some reading while my girlfriend finishes her last minute cooking before we head off to spend the day with her family.

The other day I ordered this chair on Amazon (Urban Shop Dream Chair with memory foam) and I’m quite excited to sit in it and read the New York Times by the window. I really love the fabric of the chair and the fact that it’s incredibly sturdy and rigid, rather than something you sink into. I love chairs that are very supportive when I’m reading (or even playing video games) and I’m glad I made this purchase.

I set up my Verismo coffee / espresso maker next to it and I can’t wait to read and enjoy great coffee in the mornings! I also have my record player in the corner so I can enjoy some great vinyl as well.

How was your Thanksgiving and Black Friday?

Thanksgiving this year was great. It always sucks being away from family during one of my favorite holidays, but I’m grateful that I got to spend Thanksgiving with Vanessa and her family and the food and company were great. The Ravens went on to narrowly defeat the Steelers which was also a plus. I thought for certain the game would go into overtime for the third time this year and I’d have to hold my breath longer. It was certainly an nerve wracking victory.

We didn’t really do a whole lot of Black Friday shopping. All of the sales were starting at 6pm on Thanksgiving which is not something I think should happen. We slept in this morning and headed over to Barnes and Noble just to look around. I was tempted to purchase the Nook Simple Touch which was $39, but I have a feeling Kindles will be on sale on Amazon Monday. If not, oh well. I used to have a regular Kindle and then a Kindle Fire HD, and for awhile I used an iPad but I no longer have any of those and do all of my reading on my MacBook (via iBooks and Zinio for magazines) and my iPhone. I’d like to have a Kindle so I can read in bed without having all of the other distractions my MacBook and iPhone offer. I’m hoping the Paperwhite goes on sale again since it sold out in a matter of seconds during the Kindle Fire offer.

I hope you enjoyed your holiday and Black Friday shopping if you participated! I’m certainly enjoying the long weekend.

I received one of my favorite holiday snacks in the mail from Pennsylvania. Stauffer’s Chocolate stars. I was quite surprised last year when I found out that these were nowhere to be found out here (in Idaho).

Pumpkin Pie Pop-Tarts are a thing

IMG_2716

I came across these at Target today and of course I was excited to try them out. I love just about every kind of Pop-Tart in existence (who doesn’t?) but one of my favorite seasonal flavors is the holiday sugar cookie variety. The pumpkin pie Pop-Tarts have a bit of a spicy taste to them which is unusual in a toaster pastry and is a little tough to like at first, but then you can begin to taste the pumpkin pie which makes the initial spice easier to digest.

I have to say the sugar cookie Pop-Tarts are still my favorite, what’s yours?

This time it’s Thursday

So you thought there could never be a song worse than Rebecca Black’s “Friday” did you? Well you might be wrong. I didn’t research it, but I can almost guarantee this song is written by the same person, with such insightful lyrics such as “December was Christmas, January was New Year’s, April was Easter, 4th of July and now it’s Thanksgiving….. we we we gonna have a good time.”
